New Person Center

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who is eligible to live at New Person Center?
Men who are returning to society from prison.  We do not reject any applicant based on his crime but we do review each application on a case by case basis.

  • Does it matter where I am from?
Yes. We are mainly restricted to the Allentown parole district (Bucks, Berks, Schuylkill, Northampton, and Lehigh counties) and Harrisburg parole district (Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Perry, Cumberland, Franklin, Adams, Juniata, and York counties).

  • Is there a cost?
Yes. New Person Ministries does not receive government funding so it costs $130/week to be here.  Upon arrival, there is an initial $500 ($260 for the first two weeks, $120 security deposit, and a one-time $120 staffing/program fee).  This can be paid by the resident or any person or organization who is walking alongside them.

  • Will you pick me up?
When you arrive at the Reading bus station.  We do not provide transportation otherwise.

  • Can I have visitors?
Yes, but we encourage you to meet them outside of the house, since other men are living here as well.
